Tips before you buy
- Colour temperature
- Warm white (3000K) suits living areas and bedrooms, natural/cool white (4000K+) suits kitchens, laundries and work areas. Many LEDs are tri-colour (CCT) switchable.
- Downlight spacing
- As a starting point, space downlights about 1.2–1.5m apart, and keep them 600mm or more from walls to avoid harsh scalloping.
- Dimmable?
- If you want to dim, check the fitting is dimmable and matched to a compatible dimmer. Ask us and we'll help you get it right.

What is an oyster light?
An oyster is a round, low-profile ceiling light that sits close to the ceiling. Modern LED oysters are bright, energy efficient and ideal for bedrooms, hallways and laundries.
How many downlights do I need?
It depends on the room size and the downlight's lumen output, but spacing them roughly 1.2–1.5m apart is a good starting point. Bring your plans in and we'll help you work it out.
Do you sell replacement downlight face plates?
Yes, we stock accessories such as changeable face plates for selected downlight ranges. Check our online store or ask in store.
