Tips before you buy
- Size to the room
- As a guide, a 1200mm (48") fan suits bedrooms up to about 12m², 1320–1400mm suits living areas and 1500mm+ suits large open-plan spaces.
- DC vs AC
- DC motors are quieter, use up to 70% less power and usually offer more speeds plus a reverse function for winter. AC fans cost less up front.
- Indoor or outdoor
- For alfresco and covered outdoor areas choose a fan with an IP rating and ABS, composite or marine-grade blades that won't warp.
Common questions about ceiling fans
What size ceiling fan do I need?
Measure the room: around 1200mm suits most bedrooms, 1320–1400mm suits living rooms and 1500mm or larger suits big open-plan spaces or alfresco areas. Bring your room size in and we'll recommend the right fan.
Are DC ceiling fans worth it?
For most homes, yes. DC fans are quieter, far more energy efficient, have more speed settings and usually come with a remote and reverse (winter) mode.
Can I see the fans running before I buy?
Yes, we have ceiling fans installed and running in our Albury showroom so you can compare airflow, noise and style in person.
